According to court documents, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department appears to have a long-standing tradition of exclusion with respect to hiring minorities. According to claims by various employees, Texas Parks and Wildlife particularly does not tolerate the acceptance of African American game wardens.
Two former cadets filed suit in Travis County. Although the agency, has hired an executive for diversity, there appears to be little change with respect to their stance on inclusion. Various articles show that in the 50 year history of the division, only one (1) percent of wardens hired have been of African-American descent.
